  Research Network for Women's Health and Cardiovascular Diseases in the Visegrad Four Countries

In 2006, Cedars – Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA, USA with eleven CEE universities and academic organizations from six countries (Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine) formed the Regional Cooperation for Health, Science and Technology (RECOOP HST) Consortium and has been helping physicians, researchers and scientists share discoveries and develop ways to better care for patients. The RECOOP Consortium is enhancing the research and development success of the participating organizations.

RECOOP HST Consortium Research Network for Women's Health and Cardiovascular Diseases in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE)

Time: 16-18 April, 2010
Location: Hotel Divinus, Debrecen, Hungary

Although there is variation in the lifestyle factors between the genders, they do not fully explain the differences in the incidence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and suggest the existence of gender-specific risk factors.
The goal of the Research Network (Women at Risk by Heart) is to identify gender differences in risk profiles for CVD, and treatment outcomes. The Network will discuss the following issues:

1. Priorities of clinical research in the Network, based on the strength of clinical research expertise of each organization;

2. Strategic planning for a long-term research program in the field of women health and CVD and the targeted areas are the following:

I. Cohort study investigating gender and geographical differences; at diagnostic, treatment, patient management levels;
II. Consensus making on the major risk factors and their impact on the women’s cardiovascular disease;
III. Correlation studies between the genetic “pre-conditions” and the gender differences in the cardiovascular diseases.
